Capture More Hearts & Sales With Superior Digital Jewelry Content
Creating CAD files for rendering requires a distinct set of skills compared to CAD for manufacturing. The goal is to produce visual content that truly captures the essence of your jewelry’s design and craftsmanship.
Step 1: Understand Usage Needs: Determine where the CAD model will be used, whether for still images on your e-commerce website, augmented reality, or try-on features for mobile users. Each customer may have unique format and polygon number requirements.
Step 2: Prepare for Automation: CAD files are often used in automated scripts to generate multiple variations of images. Ensure the final CAD file has appropriate layers for each model to facilitate smooth automation.
Step 3: Refine Details: Ensure the final model has smooth edges and all prongs are properly bent over the stones. Take into account any specific customer requirements, such as eagle prongs, before smoothing the piece.
Step 4: Optimize File Size: If converting from manufacturing CAD to rendering CAD, shrink the file size to avoid bulky appearance in final product images.
Step 5: Apply Smooth Techniques: Use efficient smoothing techniques that preserve the surface of the item and are suitable for larger quantities.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Jewelry and Metals
What is rhodium plating?
Rhodium plating is necessary to achieve a bright white finish on white gold. White gold’s true color is off white. Since gold comes out of the ground yellow, we add white alloys to it to create white gold. Since we can never achieve a perfect bright white, white gold gets plated with a thin coat of rhodium, a rare metal that is a member of the platinum group. Our rhodium plating price starts at $97 which includes the necessary polish before a piece is plated.
Which metal is best?
The best metal varies on a case by case basis. The most cost effective are the 14kt golds. If you are ordering a band and do not trust yourself with an expensive ring, start with sterling silver. If you are allergic to most metals, go with platinum.
